Another Reverse Watermelon Coral ! These Echinophyllia corals have a bright green surface pigmentation with corallites that are colored bright pink to orange. The Mummy Eye Reverse Watermelons also contain a bumpy surface with large turberculae. The Oregon Mummy Eye has a medium bright green base pigmentation that can also develop some yellow pigments around the corallites. This Reverse Watermelon also contains a swirled pigmentation within the corallite center that is composed of Pink, Red and Orange pigments. Reeffarmers received our seed section from Isaac Seidel (seidel_7@hotmail.com) of Portland Oregon. Isaac acquired the coral on a tranship from Indonesia in 2006.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of the Oregon Mummy Eye for Reeffarmers.com in an 80 gallon naturally filtered Bi-Zonal Reef Aquarium. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive Weak light under a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium Metal Halide. Isaac beleives the coral requires weak to moderate illumination to retain its coloration. Please note - in August 2010 Reeffarmers retired this coral due to losing its seed. If we can acquire another seed we would bring this coral back out of retirement. Upate July 2012 - Reeffarmers has brought this coral back out of retirement. Thanks to Kurt Schneider of Alexandria Kentucky, Reeffarmers has received a fairly niced sized Oregon Mummy seed fragment in a coral trade.
