Exclusive Edition
|
This coral was originally acquired by Rit of the Atlanta Aquarium around the 2008 timeframe. Its was just a small hitchhiking coral that had survived on a piece of Indonesia rock base. Rit salvaged the coral and grew it out for about 8 years in captivity. Although many regular customers had asked about the coral, Rit refused to make any fragments. Than in May 2015, Rit was visited by a group of vendors. Three fragments were harvested at that time, but only one survived. The fragment IJAM acquired survived and was given to Jason Fox Signature Corals. Then in April 2016, Reeffarmers visited the Atlanta Aquarium and Rit was ready to distribute more fragments. He had also developed the corals marketing name. Reeffarmers decided this unique coral should be an Exclusive Edition due to its unique qualities and the manner in which Rit had acquired the coral.
Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers within a 7 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to weak light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. Rit from Atlanta Aquarium discovered that when exposed to strong light halides at his house, the coral was primarily brown with little color. After bringing the coral to his reef shop and exposing the Acropora to LED lighting, its amazing pigmentation patterns began to develop. According to Rit, higher LED intensity will develop greater golden yellow surface pigmentation. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold through Facebook. List price was $350.00 and a volume discount of 20 % was applied so actual payment was $280.00 . Reeffarmers is also selling a couple of Drop Shipped small fragments that are the 3rd, 4th and 5th editions. Those are available now. Email for details. We are also healing up a small tiny harvest frag that is the 2nd edition. Page text updated on April 24th 2016.
