The new Acid Bath Chalice is a brilliantly colored chalice that has an incredibly diverse array of pigment colors. Its main surface has blue, turquoise, pink, red and green color pigments. These pigments occur in spots and lines that are mixed and swirled all around the surface. The leading growth edges of the coral tend to contain primarily blue to turquoise to green pigments. The inner areas of the surface contain primarily red to pink to green pigments. Corallite eyes are a mix of yellow to lime green. Spots of pink areas can occur inside the corallite eyes.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed fragment of the Acid Bath Chalice directly from Seth and Angelle Drago owners of Coral Fever LLC. Seth and Angelle originally acquired this coral from a hobbyist that is no longer in the hobby. The hobbyist said it was an unknown chalice and it was given to Seth and Angelle to nurse back to health. They managed to preserve a two corallite seed section. After 2 years it had grown to over 16 corallite eyes. There are currently only 3 reeffers in total who possesss this chalice.

An image of their coral was placed onto Reef2Reef where a naming contest thread was started and eventually the name Acid Bath was selected. Reef2Reef Naming Contest. Reef2Reef Name Winners. They have maintained the coral under 20,000 K 400 watt metal halides. That lighting is accented with 453 Blue LED's. The coral prefers low to moderate water flow. They found the coral to be a fast grower and relatively easy to maintain.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of a single polyp will be determined by the first edition auction below.
