This spectacularly colored bright sky blue Acropora millepora also has
pink tips on the very edge of its axial corallites. The coral was
originally exported from Jakarta and Steve Tyree acquired a salvaged
fragment of the parent colony from Aquatic Creations in early 2003.
The initial fragment is now a small colony that is growing very quickly.
Polyps are extended during the day and they also contain the blue
fluorescing coral pigment. We are fairly certain this is an Acropora
millepora species instead of an Acropora prostrata due to the corals
'short uniform branches'. Steve Tyree is maintaining this coral for
reeffarmers.com in one of his 125 gallon naturally filtered Tri-Zonal
EG Reef Aquariums. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positoned at
about 15 inches from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium Metal Halide.
Water current is moderate. Price is currently $50 per small sized fragment.

Please note effective December 2007 we have changed the harvesting and
reservation schedule to bimonthly. This better matches the corals long
term growth rate in captivity.
