Reeffarmers acquired our seed polyps directly from Morgan Wood of Captains Corals. Morgan acquired the coral in 2007 when he purchased a large zoa and paly collection from a friend who was leaving the hobby. At that time, the Cherry Charms were an unamed and unknown zoa exported from Indonesia. Initally these zoa were faded in color and expanding to collect light. The brilliant coloration of this polyp began to develop after a number of months. The name of the coral was coined by Todd Cherry of Cherry Corals. Todd had acquired some of the polyps from Morgan in April of 2011 at the Indianapolis Marine Aquarium Society (IndMas) coral swap. Morgan recommends strong light to develop the most intense pigmentation. He keeps them under 12k Halides with a PAR value of 400-700. They prefer moderate to strong flow and will accept target feedings.
Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to strong light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition seed polyp of this coral is being sold on our Buy It Now page. Introductory list price is $50 for the single first edition polyp.
