The Golden Galaxy Chalice is another one of the amazing new school Chalices that have recently entered the captive reef market. This coral has some very unique pigment patterns and colors. The main surface of the coral has mixed patches of bright blue and purple. In some areas the purple pigment dominates (typically around corallites). In some areas the blue pigment dominates (typically along edges). In other areas a unique violet mix of purple and blue dominates the surface pigmentation. The corallites of this coral also contain some amazing pigmentation colors. Within the small corallites a golden orange pigment color dominates, but there can also be patches of green, yellow and red. The surface of the coral contains sharp protrusions that also form ridges around the corallites. Reeffarmers acquired our seed fragment of the Golden Galaxy direct from Mark Poletti. The colony was originally acquired by Mark from a local reef store in Northern California. Mark originally acquired just a fragment of the imported colony, but later went back and bought the entire colony after his fragment began to develop some interesting pigmentation patterns. We currently believe that this chalice develops its best coloration under low light levels. Water current requirements are moderate. Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 125 gallon naturally filtered TriZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone, a semi-exposed zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive low light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment will be partially based on the first edition auction sale price. The quarterly limited edition reservation schedules can be found below.

Limited Edition Golden Galaxy Chalice Mark Poletti Corallite Closeup. When you examine the golden orange colored corallites closely,
you can observe that the golden coloration appears to be derived from patch patterns of green, yellow and red pigments.
