This Leptastrea species coral contains an exotic gold pigmentation that can also appear mustard in color. Pigments are most intense in the center of the corallites and at the base of polyp tentacles. This unusual coral was found by Bookfish (Jim) who currently works at New Alameda Aquatics in Alameda California. The coral was exported from Tonga. Jim thinks that this Gold Leptastrea prefers low lighting but it can handle some moderate light levels better then other color morphs of Leptastrea. Steve Tyree is maintaining a farmed section of this coral for reeffarmers.com in his 225 gallon naturally filtered Tri-Zonal Reef Aquariums. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positoned to recieve weak light levels under a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium Metal Halide.
