Green Jacketed Divaricata
Acropora divaricata

Limited Edition Green Jacketed Divaricata Reeffarmers seed. This Acropora divaricata coral originally contained dark blue colored corallites and polyps.
A bright fluorescent green pigment has been grafted or fused onto the coral within Steve Garrett's outdoor captive reef system.
This pigment slowly spreads across the surface of the coral and can make interesting patterns along branch tips as the pigment appears to jacket the branch.

Another grafted Acropora coral that has gained or fused a new pigment while growing within a captive reef system. This normally purple blue colored Acropora divaricata initially developed a bright green fluorescent pigment on one of its lower branches. This bright green pigment is believed to have come from a Fluorescent green Pocillopora damicornis coral. From its initial contact point the pigment slowly expanded across the surface of the coral. This Green Jacketed Divaricata Acropora was created in Steve Garretts outdoor reef system. He believes that the green pigment became attached to the original non-green Acropora divaricata coral within his system. Steve thinks this could have been done by a Pocillopora damicornis coral larvae that settled onto a branch of the coral. Since that original pigment grafting, Steve has perfected a method to manually transplant green branch tips to the ends of non-green branch tips of the original Acropora divaricata. Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 85 gallon naturally filtered BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of a single branch witrh grafted tip is $85. The monthly limited edition reservation schedules can be found below.
