The primarily orange colored Mummy Eye also has splotches of green, purple and white.
The coral can also develop radiating lines of purple and white.

A new Mummy Eye coral with some magical pigmentation properties. The magical Mummy Eye from Ghost Corals has been developing some crazy pigments lately in captivity. The corallite eyes are solid bright orange with some hints of yellow. The surface varies from green to golden orange, but recently some very exotic purple pigments have also been developing near the corallites. Actual lines and splotches of purple can be seen in some corallites. There are also splotches of white and white lines that have developed near some corallites. The outer edge of the Mummy Eye varies from bright green to dark green. Clearly a crazy and somewhat magical coral pigmentation pattern.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed of this coral directly from Hugo at Ghost Corals in early 2010. Hugo has been maintaining the coral in captivity for 1 1/2 to 2 years as of September 2010. The coral was originally exported from Australia. It prefers weak to moderate light with moderate to weak current.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive low to moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of a single corallite will be determined by the First Edition Live Auction during the 2010 IE-CFM coral show event.

Please note Reeffarmers is no longer taking new reservations for new corals. The current economic conditions are not supportive for reservations that extend for a few years into the future. After this first edition is distributed, we will sell future captive produced fragments on either our Buy It Now page or via another silent auction. We will still list exotic corals as Limited Editions and will continue to build web pages for them.
