The Matrix Chalice
The Matrix Chalice Limited Edition LPS Stony SniperSPS seed.
The Matrix Chalice is another new stunning chalice with incredible pigmentation patterns.
Its orange/red and lime green pigments develop very exotic Matrix patterns.
Corallites can also develop very extensive patterns consisting of orange/red spotted
rings and Lime Green colored valleys between the rings. In areas where the green
pigments dominant the orange/red pigments can appear to be more orange colored.

In the last few years the US Reef Hobby has imported some absolutely stunning LPS Chalice Corals. These corals have helped to shape and develop the expansion of the LPS stony coral market segment. Reeffarmers began marketing our first chalice way back in 2002. That was back when just finding and developing colorful pigments on a chalice was not a common occurance. Reeffarmers is now proud to distribute The Matrix Chalice. One of the newest absolutely stunning LPS Chalice stony corals. Reeffarmers acquired our seed from Hugo Zuniga (snipersps). Hugo originally acquired the coral along with Jay (sps4mytank) when they both purchased the coral from some one who quit the hobby.

The name for the coral was actually determined by a poll done on the Reef Forum community Reef2Reef Name This Chalice.

The Matrix Chalice has a dominant orange/red pigmentation that occurs on many bumps or protrusions on the surface of the coral. These bumps form rows and unique matrix like patterns. The second dominant color is a bright lime green pigment, that typically occurs in the valley areas located between the orange/red protrusions. In some areas the green can be more dominant. There is also a bluish pigment found in some of the valley areas. The corallite eyes are orange/red with some green pigment spots. These mouths have an open circular orange/red inner ring that can be surrounded with either alternating rings of green and orange/red or just additional rings of orange/red.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of a single corallite will be determined by the First Edition Silent Auction.

Please note Reeffarmers is no longer taking new reservations for new corals. The current economic conditions are not supportive for reservations that extend for a few years into the future. After this first edition is distributed, we will sell future captive produced fragments on either our Buy It Now page or via another silent auction. We will still list exotic corals as Limited Editions and will continue to build web pages for them.

of the pigment patterns. The movie Matrix featured a vertical text pattern that
was a representation for the computer simulated Matrix. The vertical lines of
Orange and Green protrusions represents this corals unique Matrix qualities.

Limited Edition The Matrix Chalice First Edition Fragment.
This was the actual First Edition Matrix Chalice fragment that Reeffarmers distributed.
Physical size is 5/8 inches long by 3/8 inches wide with a single corallite eye.
This fragment is very healthy and is exhibiting that puffed up look.
The green pigment is currently somewhat weak and expected to intensify.

We do not use ebay and left them a few years ago for various reasons that many people now realize. And we also do not trust online automatic payment systems such as shopping carts ever since the old Coral Farmers Market auction site was attacked and hacked.
