Limited Edition Mystic Grape Favia Reeffarmers Seed Section. The bright
green outer rings of the Mystic Grape Favia are very prominant. The inner corallite walls are colored
purple, while the center of the corallite also contain numerous pigment granules.
The Mystic Grape Favia has brilliant fluorescent green pigments that occur within thin outer rings
that surround each corallite. The inner walls are colored purple as are polyp tentacles. There are
also many pigment granules that occur within the center corallite area.
Reeffarmers acquired our seed colony from Sara Bertolino (SaraB). Sara acquired this original colony
though a Reef Store in the Chicagoland area. Midwest Reef Supply had acquired it from another store
in Chicago in March of 2008 and distributed a few frags of it both at the store and at a few local
Midwest Swaps. Sara acquired her first frag in March 2008 and then obtained the majority of the colony
in September 2008 through an equipment trade. Sara refers to this coral as Mystic Grape Favia due to
the corals intense purple and green coloration.
The coral prefers moderate current and direct light from a 250 Watt 20K Radium Metal Halide bulb.
For Sara the coral was located 24" below a Lumenarc III Reflector. This would give the coral a
moderate light level.
Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 125 gallon
naturally filtered TriZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone, a
semi-exposed zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to
receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of
this coral per small fragment consisting of 2 polyps is $65.00. The quarterly limited edition
reservation schedules can be found below.
