The Mia's Pot of Gold Favia has incredible golden colored corallite centers. This is a true and distinctive golden pigmentation. The coral has multi-colored pigment granuales located all over its surface. Around the golden corallite centers there can be pink pigments. The area located between corallites contains green to turquoise to blue pigments. Polyp tentacles (see lower right polyp on image above) have white tips. Reeffarmers acquired its seed fragment of this coral from Greg Carroll of Southern California (gcarroll). Greg acquired the coral in early 2007 from a local Southern California Reef Shop. Greg purchased the entire colony at that time. He also named the Mia's Pot of Gold Favia for his second daughter. Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 125 gallon naturally filtered TriZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a cryptic zone, a semi-exposed zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The coral appears to develop its best combination of colors when exposed to weak to moderate light levels. Price is currently $80 per small fragment with two corallite centers.
