This encrusting and massive Psammocora superficialis was acquired by
Reeffarmers.com from Shutin Johnson. Shutin is located in the Monteray Bay
area of California and she has two stunning reef aquariums. The tentacles
on the surface of this coral are colored bright blue. This is very rare and
is an exotic color morph for the Psammocora superficialis species. We do not
know exactly where the original coral was exported from. The coral is able
to maintain its blue coloration even in weak to moderate light levels. The
edge or new growth areas of the coral contain a green pigmentation.
Steve Tyree is maintaining this coral for reeffarmers.com in a 125 gallon
Tri-Zonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a cryptic zone and
semi-exposed areas located next to an exposed reef zone. In Steve's captive
reef the coral is positioned to recive low light. The blue tentacle coloration
has maintained its intensity in captivity. Water current is moderate to weak.
Price is currently $50 per small sized fragment. The monthly limited edition
reservation schedules can be found below. Please note effective August 2007 we
have changed the harvesting and reservation schedule to bimonthly. This better
matches the corals long term growth rate in captivity.
