These polyps were originally exported from Indonesia and sold through the online retailer Blue Zoo Aquatics. Travis Schmidt purchased the polyps from Blue Zoo and Travis also coined the name Sour Cherries. The name was based upon the Sour Apples polyps that have the same basic pattern, but the Sour Cherries are colored pink and blue. Travis recommends moderate light levels with moderate to low water currents. He rates the polyps as being moderately difficult to maintain.
Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 80 gallon BiZonal Growout system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. Water current is weak to moderate. The first edition fragment was sold on the Buy It Now page and the original suggested retail price was $20 per polyp.
