John at Your Reef acquired the YR Pastel Favia in late 2009. It originally appeared to be an unusually faded Australian Prism Favia. Its pigmentation intensified strongly while within captivity. Coral tissue itself can puff out and expand quite dramatically. John believes the coral prefers medium light levels and medium water flow rates.
Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to weak light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of a single large polyp will be determined in part by the first edition live auction that will occur in Orlando Florida during the 2011 SouthEastern Coral Farmers Marker (SE-CFM) on May 29th 2011.
