Blue Agave Echinophyllia sp. Reeffarmers Seed Colony coral
has exotic blue white stripes over its main surface. Corallite centers are solid deep green colored.
NOTE - This coral was retired the fall of 2006. Unfortunatley this Echinophyllia did not
exhibit long term health while maintained in captivity. We have seen a few Echinophyllia
now that did not maintain long term growth in captivity.
This is a very exotic Echinophyllia with a candy cane type of stripping pattern on
its surface. Stripes are light blue to blue white in color. Corallite centers are
dark green with other green/turquoise pigments present. This was another coral that
was initially discovered by Matt Juner of
ReefReady.net and Mike Obrien of
Rarefrags.com . They found this coral at the
Los Angeles coral wholesaler Pacific Aqua Farms in the fall of 2005. The coral however
did not initially do well in captivity. A large seed section was given to Jeromy Carrol
of acoralsource.com . Jeromy gave his entire seed section of the coral to Steve Tyree with
Reeffarmers for distribution. Reeffarmers is now the keeper of this coral and we have
the only large seed section. The true color of the coral can be seen in the corallite
closeup image below.
Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed farming section of the Blue Agave Echinophyllia sp. coral for
Reeffarmers.com in one of his 125 gallon naturally filtered Tri-Zonal Reef Aquarium. In Steve's
captive reef the coral is positoned to recieve weak to moderate light under a 400 watt 20,000 K
Radium Metal Halide. The Auctioned Edition opening bid for each new auction is currently $175
per small sized fragment consisting of one large corallite. The quarterly auctioned edition
auction schedules can be found below.

No fragments of this coral will be traded on the side by Reeffarmers for Limited Edition

acquire a new Auctioned Edition coral. When First Edition Reeffarmers Auctions occur, about
50 % of the auction price will go to the farmer that delivered this coral to the reeffarmers.com
facility. We do this in gratitude to reef farmers who have chosen to sell their rare corals
through the Reeffarmers Auctioned Edition (AE) distribution network. The Reeffarmers facility
is closed to the public.
