The Fireball Acropora is a new morph that combines a true red colored Acropora with bright white polyps. These polyps also extend during the daytime photoperiod. It is fairly easy to maintain the deep red coloration of this Acropora even with moderate light levels (250 watt DE Halides). This Acropora morph also fully extends one tentacle from each radial polyp. The polyp tentacles are colored bright white with dark red markings at their base. These white tentacles contrast sharply with the base red coloration this coral develops in moderate light exposure.

The Fireball Acropora was originally imported late in 2010. The entire initial colony was acquired by Dan and Tina of Wet Thumb Frags. Reeffarmers acquired our initial seed fragments of the Fireball Acropora directly from Wet Thumb Frags. Reeffarmers has also distributed a couple of tiny fragments of this coral to a private collector and another retail Coral Farmer.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of a single branch will be determined by the first edition auction below.
